Skyro Help Center

What if the merchant says they don’t accept or work with Skyro, but they have a QR Ph payment option available?

Don’t worry, boss.

If the merchant accepts QR Ph, you can usually still pay using SkyroCredit, even if they say they don’t “work with Skyro”.

QR Ph is designed to work across different payment providers.

If you experience any issue, please chat with us in the Skyro app.

Under BSP Circular No. 1055, all payment service providers (PSPs) are required to put the safety of both payers and payees first when it comes to QR-enabled payments.

Here’s what you should know:

  • BSP requires all PSPs to follow the National QR Code Standard.

  • This means QR Ph is interoperable — it works across different payment providers.

  • In short, any merchant with a QR Ph code should accept payments from any PSP, no matter which provider they use.

a. Can merchants not accept QR Ph payments, but accept other QRs, specific to just one or a few financial apps?

Yes, boss. Some merchants may limit the QR payments they accept. There are stores who may choose not to accept QR Ph and only allow payments through specific apps (like GCash or Maya).

This usually happens because:

  • Many small merchants use personal QR codes linked to their own wallet or bank.

  • These QRs work only within that specific app, not across all providers.

So if it’s not a QR Ph code, your payment options may be limited to the app shown on the QR.

b. Can merchants refuse to accept SkyroCredit or SkyroPondo as a mode of QR payment, if they accept QR Ph?

Yes, it can happen, boss. Some merchants may ask you not to use SkyroCredit or SkyroPondo, even if they accept QR Ph.

Why?

  • Their POS system may not immediately recognize the payment.

  • This can cause a “floating” transaction, where:

    • The amount is already deducted from your Skyro account

    • But the merchant’s system hasn’t reflected it yet

What you can do:
If the merchant insists, you may choose to pay in cash to avoid delays or confusion.

Don’t worry, boss, your funds are safe and the transaction will be completed once the merchant’s system updates.
